Writing: I use a variety of different activities to meet the handwriting goals of my students. Roll a story, scrambled sentences, and write as many words as you can from Groundhog Day are a few of this year’s writing activities. I write letters on individual cards for students to manipulate into order. You can use the wordmaker website to get a list of words. Check out the freebie in my Free Resource Library.

Game: Matching shadows to animal’s memory game. I printed and laminated the cards from my Animal Shadow Matching resource.
Gross Motor Variation: Sometimes I add a motor component by hanging one set of the pictures around the room. Students draw a card and then have to walk around to find the matching shadow.
Fine Motor/Crafts: To work on executive function, scissor skills and direction following, here are a few of my favorite crafts and fine motor ideas for Groundhog Day.
